Niamh Jones is a theatre reviewer, photographer, poet and author based in Oxford. She is a recently graduated Oxford student, where she read Medieval English. During her time at university she was an active member of the drama society, working as the university’s most prolific theatre reviewer, as well as a director and producer for a number of projects. Following her graduation, she produced a new writing play at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as a short run of Christopher Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereusus at the Oxford Playhouse. She is currently producing a number of new writing projects based in London.
During her final year at university she began working for Broadway World, reviewing a number of London based shows including, most notably, a gala night of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. These days, she balances work for Broadway World with independent reviewing, transitioning this blog from reviewing a mixture of student and professional pieces to almost exclusively professional.
Between a busy theatre based schedule she spends her days drifting between old libraries and coffee shops soaking up the history of Oxford, and occasionally returning to the Scottish island she calls home. Despite having immersed herself into the culture of a number of British cities, she is most at home upon the moors of Wales and the highlands. The landscape of her ancestors has an influence on both her sense of self and creativity, as she feels a strong affinity with the countryside and the nature that surrounds us.
On this website you will find both a portfolio of photography work and a theatre blog. While the blog is primarily reviews, there are also some life updates, typically giving an inside view of the projects she has been working on.
